This Dorothy Garske Center has conducted many programs for the people of Arizona since its inception in 1985. The Center is now in its phase down period. The three primary programs of recent years are listed below. The advance directives program is now all web based and we will transfer these resources to another entity within the next couple of years. The Get-Fit Stay-Fit Challenge will soon be available as as self-administered program. The Center will provide limited staff support to current participating communities and new communities wishing to offer this program to their members. Volunteers for Outdoor Arizona started as a program within the Center. It is now an independent corporation with Federal tax exempt status (501(c)3). The Center's final mission will be to help VOAz to become financially self-sufficient.

Advance care planning is about using living wills and other health care directives in ways that enhance the likelihood that your wishes will be honored.

The health care directives documents and literature at this site may be reproduced for personal use and distributed by health care and other human services providers, governmental and religious organizations free or at the cost of reproduction. The Center is no longer able to fulfill mail orders. (August, 2009)

Advance directives materials for health care providers, includes patient literature, special forms, federal regulations, and Arizona law links.

Get Fit--Stay Fit Challenge is phasing out its staff support for this program as part of the planned close-out of the foundation. Contact Katie Stone by email (KT"at"dgcenter.org) or call Katie for more information (480.966.2674) about how you can obtain the Challenge program CD that will allow you to use this successful health promotion program in your community.

Volunteers for Outdoor Arizona needs you to get involved in trail building, ecological restoration, and other projects that will enrich our lands and you. (The link will take you to the VOAz web site: www.voaz.org.) The Center is focusing its remaining resources on launching VOAz as a self-sustaining resource for environmental stewardship in Arizona.
